Johannesburg

Cultural Excursions included in the Program:

The Apartheid Museum chronicles the rise and fall of a government sanctioned system of racial discrimination in South Africa during the 20th century.  The Museum includes over 20 individual exhibitions that consist of film footage, photographs and artifacts that reflect the emotional and historic struggle for equality in South Africa.

Cultural Excursions for Independent Exploration during free time. If desired, local guides will be available to facilitate individual purchase for admission:

Walk among the many cafés and boutiques of Nelson Mandela Square.  This lively city center has a vibrant mixture of both European and African culture to be enjoyed by all.

Attend a show at the Market Theatre – one of Johannesburg’s most influential arts center as it showcases anti-apartheid plays with the hope of healing a country through art in the 21st century.

Durban

Cultural Excursions included in the Program:

Participate in a Local Community Visit to experience the semi-rural and cultural hospitality of the local community. Upon arrival in the village, a Local Community Guide will greet the group and share insight into daily life. Throughout the day, there will be numerous opportunities for students to interact and immerse themselves in the lives of local community people.

The uShaka Marine World is one of the largest aquariums in the world and offers a full day of action packed marine excitement.  Choose your adventure as uShaka Marine World offers animal encounters, a water park, and a beach side.


Kruger National Park- Optional Extension

Cultural Excursions included in the Program:

Composed of nearly 12,000 square miles, Kruger National Park is the largest, and most prominent game reserves on the continent of Africa.  Within the gates of the park, there are more than 800 species of wild animals living in a rich and diverse habitat.

Two Full Days of Guided Bush Drives will offer the opportunity of a lifetime to experience the sights and sounds of wild Africa.  A Kruger Ranger will share unique insight into the surroundings as well as track animals for the best possible views of Africa’s famous wildlife.
